Scientific studies have proven that creative manual activities have great physical and mental health benefits for people of all ages: they improve motor skills and cognitive skills in children, help combat stress and anxiety in adults and assist in conservation of cognitive and motor functions as years go on.Crafting with other people also creates bonds, allows generations to come closer together, gives a sense of belonging.
Our big dream for the future is to create a crafts club with dedicated space where people can meet, learn a variety of crafts, and work on projects together. A friendly and warm place to share creative passion where everyone is welcome. A place where you can go for help if you are stuck with your project, or if you just prefer working on one in a company of like-minded people. A place for teenagers to hang out and learn. A place where a person can learn a new skill that will allow them to start earning a little bit of extra money, or simply channel their creativity and improve their emotional well-being.
One day we will get there!
In the meanwhile, we are starting off by looking to put together several small groups for a bunch of fibre-related crafts, such as sewing, crochet, knitting, macramé and tatting. Depending on your interest, we would love to accommodate children, teens and adults, beginners, and intermediate levels.
