Our mission
Through knitting, crochet, sewing, macramé, mending, upcycling and other textile techniques, we help people develop useful skills, express their creativity and build a more sustainable relationship with clothing and textiles. We place particular focus on young people and women, creating welcoming opportunities to learn, create, build confidence and grow.
Our principles
Learn
Gain practical skills and knowledge through hands-on learning. We teach textile and fibre techniques in a simple, accessible way, including for complete beginners.
Create
Use creativity to make something new from scratch. Handmade objects and garments encourage a slower, more thoughtful approach to consumption and can offer a durable alternative to fast fashion
Recycle
Reuse materials, repair and upcycle textiles using the same practical skills. We encourage people to extend the life of garments and materials by transforming, repairing and repurposing what already exists.
Connect
Meet others, learn together and build supportive communities. Creative activities can help reduce isolation, encourage social interaction and create a welcoming space where people feel comfortable learning and participating.
Grow
Build confidence, wellbeing and autonomy. Learning a new skill can create a sense of achievement, open new possibilities and help young people and women develop greater confidence in what they can do.
